Languedoc Roussillon, France
A 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah from young vines raised in tank, it carries a very clean, lifted palate presence. The initial flavors are bright red, but after exposure to oxygen, the darker Syrah notes come across. With just a touch of brett (barnyard) and a lifted acidity that almost suggests a spritz, the wine literally dances across your palate, which is impressive considering the dark ruby color and the stuffing of its 13% alcohol! With pepper, red earth and a grainy texture, the Petite Prise is most reminiscent of a high quality Cotes-du-Rhone Villages, though its lively freshness and juicy youthfulness.
