Mount Vesuvius, Italy
The name of this wine is entwined with biblical history. According to the legend, God cried when he found a corner of Heaven stolen by Lucifer: where his tears fell, there grew the grapes that make Lacryma Christi, which translates as "tears of Christ." Intense ruby-red with layers of cherries, plums, raspberries and black pepper on the nose with a hint of smokiness in the finish. Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso is rich with refined tannins and matches a wide range of foods. Pair with pasta or polenta with meat-based sauces, red meats, and can even make a surprisingly great companion to grilled swordfish.
